Rokinon 24mm f/1.4: The Best Astrophotography Lens

Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 is the Best Astrophotography Lens

The Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 is the best astrophotography lens, it is my go to lens and the one I always recommend. Normally Rokinon isn’t a go to when it comes to photography, but this being one of the sharpest all around lenses for landscape photography it makes total sense for astro work.

The focus ring is buttery smooth and the aperture ring feels great as well. The aperture ring has distinct clicks for each stop which is helpful when you’re fumbling around in the dark and you need to swap things out manually. Of all the focal lengths Rokinon makes, this was has not been an issue focusing at infinity which is the most important when doing astrophotography. I’ve had a few versions of the lens, mostly because I dropped them on huge rocks, and they all focus beautifully at infinity.

I almost always shoot this lens wide open and there is minor hints of aberration at f/1.4 but it’s minor enough that it’s not a problem at typical viewing sizes. If you do stop down, go to 2.0 and it’s pretty much all gone.

Personally I think the Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 shot wide open makes some of the best astro photos. All of my astrophotography is shot with this lens with very few exceptions for when I’m trying to stitch a photo together with multiple shots. This is a great lens to start with or to add to your collection of lenses. Below are some of my images I’ve shot with the Rokinon 24mm f/1.4.

And yes I truly believe the Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 is the best astrophotography lens.

You can buy this lens on Amazon, I fully trust them and purchase all of my photo equipment from them.
